We value and appreciate the contributions of parent volunteers, who give generously of their time and expertise to support our school. We welcome parent volunteers across various areas such as classroom assistance, excursions and events, and fundraising activities.
Volunteers undergo a Working with Children Check and a Child Safety Code of Conduct induction before commencing their volunteer role.
Throughout the year, we organise a series of parent information sessions to provide parents and guardians with valuable information about their child's education, wellbeing and development. These sessions cover a range of topics including curriculum, school programs, assessment and reporting, and student wellbeing. We encourage parents to attend these sessions and to ask questions and share their thoughts.
We believe in the importance of regular communication between teachers and parents to discuss student progress and set goals for further development.
We offer parent-teacher conferences throughout the year where parents can meet with their child's teacher to discuss academic progress, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to support learning at home.
Parents can support our school by making donations or participating in fundraising efforts. Their generosity contributes to the enhancement of our school facilities, resources and extracurricular programs. By making a donation or participating in a fundraising activity, parents can help provide educational opportunities that will benefit their own children and future generations. We appreciate the support of our parent community in maintaining Sorrento Primary School's commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our students.

We have the beach on our doorstep, and bush down the road. We are embraced by the community, who help each other in times of need, and offer the leftover lemons from their trees for others to enjoy.
Smiles are offered to passers-by, and often turn into little chats. This is the life we wanted for our children.
We are so lucky to live here.

Sorrento Primary School has provided a wonderful, inclusive, supportive community for our children to grow up in. Our children continue to improve academically and develop positive morals and values. We are continually impressed by the support, dedication and general kindness which has attributed to our children’s happiness and eagerness to go to SPS each day. Our family will always be grateful for the support, experience and memories SPS has given us.

Gratitude starts with the Rye to Sorrento school run.
The morning sun glistens on the wavelets like diamonds shimmering in the light. The ancient moonahs and eucalypts along the foreshore hide the placid bay. Abundant birds fly around the shallows, dogs run and bike riders focus on their narrow path.
We call this place home. We are grateful.

I first walked through Sorrento Primary School gates with my two young sons 6 years ago. The sound of laugher and friendship filled the air. I will always remember a student came up to us with a friendly smile, “Hello!” This was the first moment I knew I wanted my sons to be here laughing and playing with their friends. Sorrento Primary School will always hold a special spot in my heart.

Over our years at Sorrento PS it has been a joy to witness and learn about some of the beautiful acts of kindness that students have displayed which have been supported by the wonderful school and teaching staff, parents and our school community. We are truly so grateful that our children are educated in a space that connects kindness and compassion with learning.

For us, the buildings and grounds of Sorrento PS represents everything a great primary school should be. The grounds encourage endless imaginative play whilst escaping the plastic environment so often seen dominating in these settings. With countless hiding places for children to explore and naturally divided areas for personal space, the grounds provide a great place for students to relax and play.

The back track. Doesn’t sound like much. But when [your kids yell] “GO THE BACK TRACK DAD” on the way to school for years, the imagination takes over. What is this secret passage into the school?? Does it get you there faster? Can you get in trouble? Are there bears????
- Tom
Apart from the exceptional quality of teaching and the wonderful caring and supportive staff, my favourite part of Sorrento Primary School is the local area that they utilise as part of their learning space. The opportunity for students to walk to both the back beach and the front beach as well as the park and local shopping strip for their learning activities is fabulous.
